A novel hybrid solar chimney power plant: Performance analysis and deployment feasibility

This study presents a novel hybrid solar chimney power plant (HSCPP) design. The HSCPP preserves the typical (SCPP), with an additional seawater pool at base and water sprinklers top. new design configuration offers opportunity to run system during daytime as traditional SCPP downdraft cooling tower night. performance of was analyzed in 16 cities Kingdom Saudi Arabia (KSA) that span entire geographical area country select optimal location for installation. results showed highest annual electrical energy production 676.20 MWh achieved southern city Shahrurah. However, lowest 347.59 found Wajh, west. freshwater 143,898 tons Riyadh, center. 77,868 Muwayh, Furthermore, proposed increased by 55% 20% when compared SCPP. In addition, outstanding reduction CO2 emissions approximately 56% associated such application HSCPP. is very promising, however, install performance-critical. Hence, locations were be from center part KSA.
